NOVEMBER BLUE
This piece was originally composed for brass band as commission by Johannes Mangersnes on behalf of Manger Old Star Brass for the bands 30th Anniversary in 2010.A short, soft, mellow piece of music, expresses the feeling you sometime have when thoughtfulness and calmness are more important. After working on a piece for choire using a poem called "Nights have no name" (composers translation) by Stein Mehren, I wanted to explore the harmonic language by using it in a piece for band. The piece is soft and I focus equally on melody, sound and timbre.
