To the conductor: Slurs in accompanying voices can be seen as indicating the phrasing only, thus breathing is possibe when necessary. It will be the challenge of the conductor to shape this as soft and sostenuto as possible (almost like strings), if needed assign appropriate places to breathe, depending on size and level of the band.

HANS OFFERDAL (1971)
Hans Offerdal holds degrees in music theory and composition from The Norwegian State Academy of Music, The University of Oslo, Kingston University London, and the University of California, Los Angeles. Currently a professional composer, arranger and conductor, he also teaches at The State Academy and Barratt Due Music Institute. With experience ranging from professional recording musicians in Hollywood to school bands in Oslo, he is an active contributor at Norsk Noteservice as with music for various ensembles at various levels.

”Young Band” series from Norsk Noteservice can be played at any age, but have a smaller instrumentation than what is known as ”Concert Band” and “Symphonic Band”.
Characteristics for this series are:
• Simple structures that makes it playable for most bands.
• Range and technical difficulties are limited
• Parts that mostly are cross-cued and can be left out is: Bassoon, Oboe, Bass Clarinet, Alto Saxophone 2, Baritone Saxophone, Horn, Trombone 2, Mallet percussion, and Percussion 3.
• Most solos are cross-cued.
• The difficulties varies from grade 2 to 3.
